I have been a governor at St Patrick’s School for over 25 years and have been elected Chair of Governors for the past 5 years.
The Governing Body agree to elect each year to ensure all governors have the opportunity to become Chair.
I joined the governing body as a Parent Governor when my daughter started school. I then became an LA Governor and I am now a Foundation Governor. I have also been on the board of governors at other schools: Parent Governor – St Leonard’s, Community Governor – Tilery Primary School.
To enhance my professional development I continually attend training courses offered through the Local Authority and the Diocese and have also completed the National College “Chair of Governors” qualification. My working background is in finance and I work for Durham University in the Systems, Projects and Innovation department as General Ledger Manager. I can therefore bring a vast amount of financial knowledge to the Governing Body of St Patrick’s School.
I have two children, one of whom is a primary school teacher. I meet with the Head Teacher regularly to discuss the strategic development of the school. I am a member of the friends and parents group of the school ‘FOSPA’. This allows me to be involved in many aspects of school life as well as being a governor.
I am part of the University School Governor Network, along with other experienced governors we pass on advice and guidance to new governors.
