My name is Father Robert Riedling and I am a Foundation Governor.
I am from Sydney, Australia, studying as a full-time postgraduate theology student at Durham University where I am expected to be until the middle of 2019. I am from the western suburbs of Sydney where I was born and raised. The diocese of which I am a priest is called the Diocese of Parramatta,
Parramatta being a city in its own right but which is a part of Sydney. I am from a small family, having just one older brother. My parents and brother immigrated to Australia from England in 1964 and I was born four years later. After finishing school in 1985 I attended Sydney University and graduated as a primary school teacher in 1991.
After working in the civil service for a few years I then taught at a state primary school for four years. Not raised as a Catholic, I came to the faith through the RCIA process, baptised in 1997 before entering the Good Shepherd Seminary in Sydney in 1999 and being ordained as a priest in June 2005 in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta.
Since being ordained I have served in three parishes in my home diocese and been Parish Priest in two of them. I have never regretted my decision to become a Catholic and to enter the priesthood. I love being in a parish and serving the people of God in whatever way I can and hope to serve with good effect as a foundation governor for St Patrick’s School.
